Sarah Burton To Carry On The Legacy Of Alexander McQueen
No Comments The fashion world has lost a brilliant avant-garde artist, but Alexander McQueen’s legacy will live on through new Creative Director, Sarah Burton.
Burton has lent her creative expertise to the London-Based fashion house since 1996. She spent the last 10 years as the head of womenswear and was recently credited with completing McQeen’s F/W 2010 collection after his death. Burton has proven herself to be a worthy heir to the McQueen throne, but she definitely has some large shoes to fill. In a recent statement Burton said she hopes to “stay true to his (McQueen) legacy”.
A look back at some of the most abnormally brilliant runway shows from creative genius, Alexander McQueen:

1999 – Yellow and black paint sprayed from robotic arms as a model in a white dress spun deliriously.

| 2002 – Walking with wolves in the same jail that housed Marie Antoinette. | 2003 – Models forged ahead through a tunnel of gale force winds. |

| 2005 – Models were required to train in ballroom before they danced down the runway. | 2006 – A hologram of Kate Moss danced for a few seconds before dissipating. |

2007 – An orchestra accompanied McQueen’s models who wore some of the most stunningly beautiful designs ever released from his fashion house. |

| 2008 – McQueen’s tribute to Queen Elizabeth II who had appointed him a Commander of the British Order in 2003. | 2009 – McQueen’s fall 2009 collection exemplified the extreme greed and excess in today’s society. |

2010 – McQueen’s last show introduced us to awe inspiring armadillo heels most famously worn by Lady Gaga in her “Bad Romance” music video.
